The Story
The Humble Servant follows Deacon Jorge Ramirez, a devoted father whose world is shattered by the recent passing of his wife. Grieving and broken, his parish priest requests a task: deliver the Sunday homily* just weeks after his loss.
Deacon Jorge finds himself tested by the questions of his children, his parishioners, and even the unexpected words of a stranger. As the weight of grief and doubt bears down, he begins to question whether he’s even capable of delivering the homily he’s been called to give.
His journey mirrors the biblical story he shares with his children, the story of Job. Like Job, Jorge confronts the silence of God in suffering and discovers that faith can endure even in the darkest moments.
The Humble Servant is a powerful, contemporary parable about grief, love, and the courageous strength it takes to keep believing when faith feels lost.
*A homily is a religious reflection during Mass that explains God’s word and connects it to everyday life
